Your menus, your settings, your data.
This policy explains what the Forkcast app (“Forkcast”, “the app”) collects, why, who else sees it, and the choices you have. Forkcast is provided by Surreel Yazılım ve Pazarlama Anonim Şirketi (“Surreel Studio”, “we”, “us”), a company based in Türkiye. The short version: we collect what we need to rank dishes for you, we delete your menu photos as soon as they've been read, and we don't show ads or track you across other apps.
What we collect
Menu photos
When you scan a menu, the photos you take or choose are uploaded over an encrypted connection to our server. The server sends them to Anthropic, an AI company, whose model reads the menu and estimates each dish's nutrition. We delete the photos from our storage as soon as the analysis finishes, including when it fails or is turned away. Nothing about you (name, settings, account ID) is sent to Anthropic along with the photos. If a menu has people in the background or a name on a receipt, it can end up in a photo, so frame the menu page.
What we keep from a scan
The dishes and estimates read from the menu, the restaurant name if one is shown, the time of the scan, and which dishes you picked, saved or gave feedback on. This is what powers your history, “Saved for later” and “Your usuals”. The menu text and estimates (not your photos) may also be reused so that the same menu scanned again is faster.
Your settings
Your goal, diet, gluten, dairy and nut preferences, the extra things you asked us to watch, whether GLP-1 mode is on, your units, and your daily calorie and protein targets. Some of this is health-related, so we treat it as sensitive: it is used only to rank dishes and personalise the app, never for advertising. If you enter age, height, weight or sex during setup, they are used on your device to calculate suggested targets and are not sent to us; only the resulting targets are saved.
An anonymous account
Forkcast creates an account for you automatically, without an email, name or password. It is identified by a random ID that is kept on your device and attached to the data above, so that your history is yours and can't be read by other users.
Purchases
Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple; we never see your payment details or Apple ID. To know whether Pro is active, we use RevenueCat, a subscription service. It receives your random account ID and the purchase information Apple provides (product, dates, status), and sends us the same. When you delete your account, we ask RevenueCat to delete the customer record tied to your ID. Apple keeps its own purchase records, and a subscription keeps renewing until you cancel it in Settings › Apple ID › Subscriptions.
Technical data
Our hosting provider records ordinary server logs (such as IP address and request time) when the app connects. We use them for security and to keep the service running. Forkcast contains no advertising or analytics SDKs and does not track you across other companies' apps and websites.
How we use it
- To read menus and rank dishes for you, and to show your history and saved items.
- To check how many scans you've used and whether Pro is active.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse, such as limiting how many scans one account can start.
- To answer you when you contact support.
We don't sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising or share it with data brokers.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers that run Forkcast for us:
- Supabase: database, file storage and the server that analyses scans.
- Anthropic: reads menu photos and estimates nutrition. Anthropic handles this data under its commercial terms and privacy policy (anthropic.com/legal/privacy).
- RevenueCat: subscription status.
- Apple: App Store, payments and app updates.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it. These providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States and the European Union.
How long we keep it
Menu photos: deleted when the analysis finishes. Everything else stays until you delete your account in the app (Profile › Account › Delete account), which removes it from our servers right away. If you delete the app without deleting your account, data on your device goes with it, but the data tied to your anonymous account stays on our servers until you delete the account or ask us to remove it.
Your choices
- You can change or remove your settings and targets in the app at any time (Profile).
- You can delete your account and all the data tied to it in the app: Profile › Account › Delete account. It takes effect immediately and can't be undone. It doesn't cancel a subscription (see below).
- You can also ask us to delete the data tied to your account, or to tell you what we hold, by emailing mahmut@surreel.studio. We'll reply within 30 days. Because accounts are anonymous, we may ask you to confirm a detail from your account so we find the right one.
- Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK, or California), you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete or port your data, or to object to its use. Write to us and we'll honour them.
- You can cancel a subscription any time in Settings › Apple ID › Subscriptions.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Each account can read only its own rows in our database, and menu photos are stored in a private bucket until they are deleted. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit what we collect so there is less to protect.
Children
Forkcast isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has used the app, tell us and we'll delete it.
Health information
Forkcast gives estimates from menu text. It is not medical advice and cannot detect cross-contact or hidden ingredients. Always confirm allergens and medical needs with the restaurant and a qualified professional.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
